10mil PAPER-BACKER VENEER PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Paper-Backed Veneer Sheets are used for many applications. These veneers are laid up in various wood cuts. 20mil or 30mil Paper-Backers are also available at an up-charge. They are cut using our CO15E Slitter, scissors or a straight edge with utility knife. Veneer edges can be trimmed with our AU-93 Edge Trimmer which comes apart, allowing you to trim veneer or edgebanding. We roll the veneer to be shipped in a cardboard container. Many Paper Backed users have used the product in the past and know it works for their project, without prior experience, you may run into problems such as, bubbling, glue seepage and bleed-through. The best way to avoid this is to test beforehand, or use our 2ply or NBL Wood-Backed Veneers.

PAPER-BACKED:
This material is mainly stocked in 10mil (about 1/64" thick). It is applied with contact cement,  vacuum bag or veneer press with wood glue. Water-based contact cement is not recommended. Follow glue manufacturers directions for glue application. A makeshift stiff scraper is recommended for scraping the veneer surface thoroughly after binding with contact cement. Paper-Backed may have bleeding through problems when applied with contact cement. You can avoid this by wiping stain quickly and apply your 1st coat of finish light. Use a fast drying clear finish and always do testing with scrap pieces first before doing your project. The best way by far for applying veneer is our Vacuum Bag Systems, use a fast drying premium wood glue for this application. These veneers are used extensively by manufacturers who have tested their own application techniques and are confident with the results.

2ply OR NBL VENEER PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
2ply or NBL
Veneer Sheets are used for many applications. These veneers are laid up with various cuts as seen above. They are cut using our CO15E Slitter, scissors or a straight edge with utility knife. Veneer edges can be trimmed with our AU-93 Edge Trimmer which comes apart, allowing you to trim veneer or edgebanding. We can roll the veneer to be shipped in a cardboard container. Wood-Backed Veneer is  user friendly, It applies somewhat like Plastic Laminate with contact cement. You should not have problems associated with Paper-Backed Veneer.

2ply OR NBL  (Wood Backer):
Our 2ply is a cross-grain backer, this gives a true radius for bending applications as little as a 3" radius. It is about 3/64" thick. It also does not bleed through, and is resistant to bubbling or telegraphing. The NBL has the backer wood-grain the same direction as on the face, giving you the option of doing as little as a 3/4" radius going with the wood-grain. These materials are a hair less then 1/16" thick for 2ply and NBL.

This is a user friendly product, it will eliminate common problems as stated above associated with Paper-Backed. It is applied with contact cement, vacuum bag or veneer press. Do not use water-base contact cement. Follow glue manufacturers directions for glue application. A makeshift stiff scraper is recommended for scraping the veneer surface thoroughly after binding with contact cement. Vacuum Bag Systems, use a fast drying premium wood glue for this application. See prices above.

The best way to avoid this is to test beforehand, or use our 2ply or NBL Wood-Backed Veneers that are applied with contact cement.

VENEERING TIPS FOR PEEL& STICK:

  1. Cut with straight edge and utility knife or scissors
  2. Make sure substrate is free of dust and particles. Lumps will show up.
  3. Peel & Stick needs a smooth, non-porous surface to stick to. Sanding the surface prior to installation is not recommended. It will not stick to raw wood.
Peel the backer off then heat with a hair dryer. Line up exact, then press on with J-Roller
Peel & Stick can be pre-finished before installation. This material is mainly used in strips and for Cabinet Refacing
  4. Pre-fit all pieces prior to contacting, use reference marks to line up veneer, always cut veneer to hang over and trim off later.
  5. Use a scraper such as a edge of hardwood, not a j-roller. Scrape the veneer after contacting, go from the center to the outer edges. You can trim veneer edges with the grain with a VIRUTEX Double Edge Trimmer. And across the grain with a utility knife. Sometimes cutting from the back works also.

DURABACK & VENEER PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
DuraBack™ is a unique product designed and engineered as an alternative to traditional laminate backed veneer. This product is very popular in some markets where solvent-based adhesive restrictions require woodworkers to use water-based glues. While providing extreme durability, the downside of using laminate backed veneer is that this brittle product has a tendency to break or split easily. The DuraBack™ sheet’s beige backer blends nicely in most applications to maintain the natural beauty of the wood veneer.

DuraBack™ was created to be an extremely flexible product unlike standard laminate backers. They are cut using our CO15E Slitter, scissors or a straight edge with utility knife.

RECONSTITUTED WOOD VENEER
Provide a look more beautiful that Mother Nature intended. Reconstituted Wood Veneer laminates feature guaranteed color and grain consistency and are surprisingly less expensive than their naturally imperfect, real species counterparts. These reconstituted wood veneers are defect-free, identical from sheet to sheet, and are offered on your choice of backers from paper to plywood.

Reconstituted Wood Veneer is a man-made, obeche-based wood product that has been formed and dyed to exemplify a myriad of wood species. The process begins by rotary slicing the logs to yield sheets of veneer. The veneer is dyed for color by soaking in nontoxic water-based dyes for about 12 hours. The sheets are then collated in stacks, with a layer of transparent glue between each sheet. The collated veneer goes into a mold, which presses them together to form a solid block of wood. The block is then sliced to yield veneer of a certain design or wood structure, depending on the type of cut.

Features and Benefits:
Affordable, real wood option to expensive exotics
Consistent color and grain from sheet to sheet
Environmentally friendly alternative to rare species
Over 40 patterns available
Applies like standard veneer
Available in paper-back, NBL®, TP, DB, and Architectural Panels
Technical Specifications:
Machine Surface Sand: 150 grit
Standard Size: 4' x 8'
Maximum Size: 4' x 10'

FIGURING AMOUNT OF VENEER NEEDED:
Our Paper-Backed Veneer comes in many sizes, but 2' x 8' or 4' x 8' are standard.
Measure the width and height of the area and divide it by 144. This will give you the sq. ft. needed for each piece. Each 2' x 8' sheet has 16sq. ft and 4 x 8' are 32 sq. ft. Figure at least one extra sheet for waste. You can sketch out a lay-out drawing to help you figure out the yield per sheet for your sizes needed. For strips of veneer for doing face frames, simply figure how many 8' long strips you can yield from a sheet accordingly.
